Evaluative Evidence for Gender Policy: edition II

The EEGP is a three-part, multi-year learning series designed to build capacity in gender-sensitive Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E). Each part of the series is delivered through a two-day in-person training that equips participants with the knowledge and tools needed to incorporate complex gender dynamics into M&E frameworks and policy design. The first iteration of this event introduced foundational concepts on gender and M&E, highlighting their role in project design and analysis.

What Participants will Learn

The upcoming iteration of the EEGP workshop will go one step further by addressing both the design and implementation of gender-responsive M&E systems in greater detail. Through interactive activities, real-world case studies, and in-depth discussions, participants will explore practical tools and frameworks to integrate gender into evaluation practice. The workshop will also feature expert-led panel discussions to bridge theory with policy application.

Key Learning Areas:

  • Gaining a foundational understanding of monitoring and evaluation principles, terminology, and their relevance in gender-focused programs.

  • Developing theories of change that incorporate gender dimensions and designing indicators that reflect gender-equitable outcomes.

  • Applying theory-based evaluation approaches to assess gender-related outcomes and understand causal pathways in complex programs.

  • Designing and implementing randomized control trials (RCTs) for gender-sensitive evaluations.

  • Exploring alternative evaluation methods when randomization is not possible, with a focus on gender outcomes.

Target Audience

This course is designed for professionals working in or aspiring to enter the M&E and development space, including:
  • Early to mid-career M&E professionals

  • Researchers, academics, and analysts in gender and development

  • Public sector practitioners

  • Staff from NGOs, donor agencies, and multilateral organizations
