On September 22, 2021 The Econometric Society, an international society for the advancement of economic theory in its relation to statistics and mathematics, announced the election of 51 new fellows from six region around the world. Dr Atif Mian, Co-Founder and Board Member CERP and Professor of Economics, Public Policy and Finance at Princeton University, was also one of the 51 elected Fellows who made it to the Society’s list.
This year 14 female and 37 male candidates were elected from Africa (3), Asia (4), Australasia (1), Europe (15), Latin America (1), and North America (27). Election as a Fellow is a recognition of each Fellow’s highly regarded contributions to Economics. Candidates for Fellow are nominated by members, Fellows, and a Fellows Nominating Committee (FNC) and elected by the Society’s active Fellows.
The main activities of the Society are publication of the journals Econometrica, Quantitative Economics, and Theoretical Economics, publication of a research Monograph Series, and organisation of scientific meetings in six regions of the world.
