Dr. Imran Rasul and Dr. Oriana Bandiera have been awarded prestigious Yrjö Jahnsson prize 2019 by the European Economic Association (EEA). The EEA is an international scientific body for individuals interested or involved in economics. The Yrjö Jahnsson Award in Economics is one of the four awards given by EEA and is given to economists who have made significant contribution in the field of theoretical and applied research in Europe
As applied microeconomists and senior research fellow at CERP Dr. Rasul and Dr. Bandiera have researched on the Asset Transfer Program which aims to evaluate the effectiveness of asset and cash transfers, in order to provide policy recommendations towards designing the best social safety net which can improve incomes of the ultra-poor belonging to four districts, Bahawalpur, Muzzaffargarh, Lodhran, and Bahawalnagar of Punjab, Pakistan.
Dr, Bandiera has also published research on Motivating Bureaucrats: Autonomy vs Performance pay for Public Procurement In Pakistan under the Procurement Efficiency Project at CERP which evaluates The availability of timely and accurate information on value for money achieved during procurement and the effectiveness of interventions to increase efficiency in public procurement.
Dr. Rasul is a Professor of Economics at University College London (UCL), co-director of the Centre for the Microeconomic Analysis of Public Policy at the Institute for Fiscal Studies, and research co-director of the Entrepreneurship Research Group at the International Growth Centre (IGC).
Dr. Bandiera is Sir Anthony Atkinson Professor of Economics and Director of STICERD, LSE, director development economics at Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and International Growth Centre (IGC).
Their achievements in the field of applied microeconomics have inspired a new wave of future applied economics.
